I'm a surfer/snowboarder/photographer. So when I eventually buy my golf I will defo be going up to the Pyrennese or the Alpes to snowboard. Are there any things I could do to improve my golf in the snow or any driving tips ? Don't worry snowchaines are always packed.|||Proper snow tires, Bridgestone Blizzaks came out with new tire technology this year, in addition to the multicell compound, the tire contains iron particles to emulate stud traction on ice. Many northern and central European countries make snow tires mandatory.|||the make of car is irrelevant . the driver skill and anticipation is much more important. looking ahead and doing things early such as braking becomes essential. thinking about conditions such as black ice or ice under snow! needs to be addressed. snow chains are excellent when used correctly . pulling away for example needs slow speed and high torque. even using second gear and not 1st can achieve smoother pull away with less risk of wheel spins.
checking weather and road conditions before starting a journey can be a help.
anticipation of other drivers mistakes is also a way of combating possible potential disaster. eg car coming other way on a bend possibly a little to fast can lose traction and slide into your path and or collide.
you can of course buy special tyres with metal spikes as used by rally cars but often these are hard to come by, are expensive and many road authorities take a dim view of them being used as they can adversely affect the road surface.|||answer no is good ..driving skill is paramount ...however i do have a home in pyrennese ..you will not be driving up to those places in winter ..they close a lot of the passes ..and there is no way i would even consider driving only a front wheel drive car on roads like that ...you will need a 4x4 ..|||Get a set of 4 Blizzak snow tires.
